About Us

The Imago Dei Fund is a grantmaking foundation based in Boston, Massachusetts that drives resources to organizations both locally and across the globe.

Our name, Latin for ‘image of God,’ reflects our commitment to the inherent dignity of every person. Driven by the persistent gender-based injustices that continue to marginalize women and girls, we are committed to co-creating a more just, free, and sustainable world in which all human beings can thrive and flourish together.

Our Mission

Motivated by our faith and commitment to the inherent dignity of all people, we invest in visionary leaders and organizations working to advance universal human rights, gender balance, justice, and spiritual holism.

Our Vision

With locally-rooted change agents leading the way, we envision a growing number of women and girls demonstrating agency and flourishing in a world marked by mutuality and interdependence.

Our Founding Story

Emily and Ross Jones founded the Imago Dei Fund in 2009. Inspired by their Christian faith, they saw stewardship as an essential part of their vocation, to go the extra mile with giving back, alleviate suffering, and restore wholeness in our world.

What began as a commitment to local initiatives in Boston, quickly expanded as they deepened their understanding of the complex and interconnected global issues at their doorstep. Through a holistic and relational approach, they continue to learn alongside their partners, asking, “what is ours to do?”—bridging the gap between local and global efforts to foster lasting change.

Guided by a philosophy of  “giving while living,” Emily and Ross chose to give generously in their lifetime, rather than build a large endowment to pass on to future generations. They work closely with the Imago Dei team to cultivate meaningful relationships and maximize their impact.

Our Logo

Inspired by our faith-centered origins, our logo weaves together pieces of the quatrefoil symbol. The symbol reflects an inner wholeness, and the fragmented pieces coming together represent our role as weavers and connectors, revealing a hidden wholeness and unity through our collaborative efforts.

Meet the Imago Dei Team

Our small Boston-based team works collaboratively to advance our mission and walk alongside our partners. All of us believe that meaningful change happens through authentic relationships built on trust. While each person plays a unique role, we are all guided by our shared values—approaching our work with curiosity, a learner's mindset, and a sense of humility.
