Leah Hong joined IDF as Program Partner in 2020 with diverse experience in the nonprofit and philanthropic sectors. Prior to joining IDF, Leah served as Director of Community Impact at Letters Foundation, Doris Buffett’s philanthropic initiative in Boston. At Letters Foundation, Leah developed and led the Foundation’s community grantmaking programs, which partnered with direct service organizations and the public sector, to extend flexible funds to individuals and families across the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
As a licensed social worker, Leah remains steadfast in her commitment to center the dignity and resilience of communities, particularly communities of color, who have been historically marginalized. Her intersectional approach and passions for social justice, gender equity, and anti-racism are rooted in her previous life as a frontline youth worker, working directly with youth and families impacted by trauma in New York City and Greater Boston.
Leah holds a B.A. in Literary Studies from The New School in New York City, and an MSW from Boston University School of Social Work.
