“Imago Dei”—Latin for “image of God”—was chosen as our name to remind us of the deep spiritual truth that motivates our work: that all human beings are born with an inherent dignity that unites us. Working with our grantee partners, we strive to do our part to restore the world to a state that more fully reflects God’s wholeness, peace, and justice.

The Imago Dei Fund logo is an Inukshuk, which translates from the Inuit language to mean “in the likeness and function of a human.” Created by the indigenous peoples of North America, these stone monuments marked travel routes and sacred places for thousands of years, telling human travelers that they were on the right path or that they had reached their destination. We chose this universal symbol of the enduring human spirit to represent our shared journey as human beings and the divine image intrinsic in all of us.
