Brave Girl Rising: Screening & Discussion

In honor of World Refugee Day, join us for a special screening of Girl Rising’s powerful new film, Brave Girl Rising. Made in collaboration with Citi, HP and the International Rescue Committee and filmed in one of the largest refugee camps in the world, Brave Girl Rising tells the story of how a courageous girl, inspired by the magical dreams of her mother and the sisterhood of her friends, succeeds in getting the education she deserves.

Written by poet laureate Warsan Shire and voiced by Tessa Thompson and Golden Globe winner David Oyelowo, this short film is a testament to how hope and love can propel us beyond even the bleakest of circumstances.

Following the film, we will have a panel discussion to dive deeper into the issues facing refugee girls – both abroad and here in Boston.  Moderated by Christina Lowery, the panel will include Stephanie Epkins, Eva Millona, and Deo Mwano.

Please invite your family, friends, and colleagues for drinks, hors d’oeuvres, and a thought-provoking discussion on the refugee experience. Join us as we stand in solidarity #WithRefugees around the world.
